I did it. I uploaded my little e-anthology to Amazon, and the status thing says, "Your content is being published. Most titles take between 24 to 36 hours to become buyable." So yeah.
I will be posting about this again when it does become buyable. More than once, probably. Perhaps that is excessive, but I'm excited.
Let's see here... the download price should be $0.99, unless Amazon decides it needs to be higher (their terms and conditions say that they can change the price if they want, and the lowest price it can be is $0.99, so... yeah).
The stories and poems in the e-book were all written between 2004 and 2010, though most were written before 2008. I didn't edit much, honestly. I think I would have probably just deleted everything if I did. It's embarrassing to admit this, but I hate my old writing. And by "old" I mean anything dating back past a month ago. In a month, I will hate this post. Anyway. So yeah, that's why the lack of editing, because otherwise I would not have had the balls to go through with this. (Speaking of my balls, they're very nice.)
Erm... what else? Most of the stories/poems are of the fantasy genre, though I did include a few other random fun ones. Also, the whole thing isn't really that long (another contributing factor to my making it only 99 cents). It ended up being 109 pages in word, but the font was 14-point Garamond and the spacing was "exactly 20-point font." (Slightly less than 1.5 spaced, basically.) Also, each separate story/poem starts on a separate page, so there was plenty of white space.
I think that's about it.
Oh, and of course - the title.
It's called "
Fantastika: A Collection of Stories and Poems." Pretty normal, I hope.

AWESOME!!! Good luck!
Cheers!
That's awesome!
Yeah... I'm publishing soon too but I have to edit. As my style evolves I may find things that can be perfected without being destroyed. The things I'm afraid I'll mess up I leave alone though.. congratulations.
Good luck. I wonder if someone will buy.
I wish you luck!
Some days technology kicks ass and I think today counts as one of those days. I'm pretty sure Edgar Alan Poe self published before he was known.
self-published, huh? oooooooooh! congrats.
I will give it a go. At 99 cents you can't go wrong, right?
How much of those 99 cents do YOU get to see, though? :D
Good luck!!
@shoujo - Haha, I sure hope you can't go wrong! And I get 35% of sales, though I don't actually get any money until I personally have earned at least 10 dollars. So like I mentioned in my post from yesterday, this is not by any means something I'm trying to make money with - I'm just trying to test the e-book waters, lol.
Well, let us know when it becomes buyable. I just did a search and it didn't come up. Boo!
@shoujo - Yeah, like I said in the post, the status thing says that it's going to take 24-36 hours to come up.
Wow I'm totally the opposite of you. I love going back and reading my old writings. Sometimes if I have nothing else to do, I'll waste away a couple of hours going back and reading my old blogs from years ago. I think I'm a little vain
Yeah, I read that part. But I was still overeager and wanted to check anyway lol.
Awesome! This is fun. I can't wait 'til it is published.
Very cool and I hope this turns out to be profitable and fun for you.
YayI I'm going to buy it when I can! Wow, you've chugged away at this a lot... I think a huge "CONGRATULATIONS" is in order. :D
wow... nice job... good luck with that!
----- filmtub- new review, read and comment -----
=] Good luck with it!
Good for you! Why don't you add descriptions on amazon: "About the book" describing what kind of poery it is and "About the author" ... maybe an excerpt too? People search for poetry all the time on Amazon...with a little extra information...who knows??? ohh...& why don't you post one of your fav poems on xanga with a link to amazon" Order Serena's Book! ? You have a built in audience here!
Very nice. I wish you all of the luck in the world. I may even get a copy.
Congratulations. You've kept very quiet about this, or is it me who's beeen a bit on the deaf side?
@darkoozeripple - I would go with you
@SerenaDante - I have been much occupted with Xangans, that's a fact. Also I'm rather conscious that I've been blasting the promotion out and not doing much to answer the commentors who've lent their suppost. This would be a good time to tell you that I was very impressed with the long poem you sent to me, the parody on Dante's Inferno, but it was so late in the game that I'd used up my page count, and it was very consumptive of pages. I'd got to a point in fact where I was having to say "enough material; this is eating me," and move the whole operation to final format.
